This is a Carving of Dragon and was Carved recently by professional means. It shows a perfect shade of Emerald green color when placed under strong transmitted light. Under normal overhead lighting, the Pendant appears a uniform, dark-shiny black. This high quality of translucent black jadeite or "Inky Jade or Ink Cui" and in this huge of size makes this jadeite a collectors' grade piece, considered to be a wise investment in the current world economy.
There are no visible cracks and this type of Translucent Black Jadeite is considered one of the rarest colors of jadeite with very few existing pieces for sale in the current world market!
This is one of only a few pieces from my own private collection that I am willing to part with, as I will be unable to get this material again in the future.
This type of jadeite occurs naturally in only small amounts throughout the host material which makes it one of the most elusive and rare gemstones on the planet. Found only in river bed areas of the upper Uru River Conglomerate located in Kachin State, Myanmar this valuable stone very rarely reaches Western markets or auction houses.

Far rarer than both diamonds and rubies is that of Imperial Translucent Black Omphacite-Jadeite Jade. Only a fraction of the jadeite found in Myanmar is black of which only about 5% is of a fine enough texture that it could be made into jewelry (cabochons). Of that 5% of jewelry quality black jadeite found in Myanmar, only about 1% is translucent in nature and will turn a brilliant imperial green when put under a transmitted light source.
Considered extremely rare in the current world market, Imperial Translucent Black Omphacite-Jadeite Jade is a unique stone to possess. It is said that this type of Jadeite takes at least 3 times longer to form (300 million years) than jadeite of other colors making the presence of this stone very limited, only found randomly in small amounts.
